The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) and the Department of Psychiatry in Little Rock, Arkansas is seeking two PhD investigators for the Division of Health Services Research (DHSR) at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. These are full-time, non-tenure or tenure track positions and report directly to the Director of DHSR. Combining research, education and clinical services into one state-of- the-art facility, the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) serves as the epicenter for UAMS Psychiatry and is the only one of its kind in Arkansas. With its tall glass façade and naturally lighted atrium, PRI is a modern monument to those who helped create it and those who continue to serve it as they attempt to shed light on the world of mental illness. The five-story, 110,000 square-foot building offers inpatient and outpatient services, with 40 beds dedicated to psychiatric patients.
DHSR is looking for investigators to join our highly motivated group of investigators and staff to expand its portfolio of federally funded research. Research interests should be compatible with DHSR’s mission to improve the lives of individuals with mental health and substance use disorders by conducting scientifically rigorous research in close partnership with clinical and community stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have the ability or potential to effectively lead research teams and to collaborate with investigators across a wide range of disciplines. An active program of scholarship and publication is essential. For more senior scholars a track record of externally funded research and for more junior scholars, clear potential and prospects for attracting extramural funding are important. Candidates should have a PhD in a humanities, public health, or social science field including, but not limited to epidemiology, health services research, demography, economics, sociology, and anthropology. Two full-time, non-tenure or tenure-track positions are available and include the opportunity for joint appointments within our VA-funded research centers. Faculty rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience. All inquiries will be handled in strict confidence and should be accompanied by a CV and a letter of inquiry.
