Seeking Postdoctoral fellow for NIMH R01: Standardized versus Tailored Implementation of Measurement Based Care for Depression

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship under the direction of Assistant Professor Cara Lewis in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University, Bloomington Campus. This position will be based within the Training Research and Implementation Science (TRIP Lab). Rich data from this R01 can be used for the postdoctoral fellow’s individual research.

The postdoctoral research associate will be involved in all aspects of the R01 research process including:

  • Randomized trial testing two approaches to implementation (standardized versus tailored) of measurement-based care for depression in community mental health.
  • Survey/measure development.
  • Supervision of a team of graduate students and research assistants in participant recruitment and data collection, including the administration of clinical interviews.
  • Management of daily operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders from numerous community behavioral health clinics.
  • Train and consult with community clinicians in the process of implementing an evidence-based practice and in the use of measurement-based care.  
  • Prospective mixed methods evaluation of determinants of practice.
  • Evaluation of feedback systems to guide treatment of depressed adults with psychological and medical comorbidities.
  • Coding therapy sessions to aid in the investigation of mechanisms through which measurement-based care works.
  • Data analysis of factors influencing implementation of measurement-based care.
  • Write IRB protocols, manuscripts, and grant proposals.

Strong applicants will have the following qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in psychology, preferably clinical science emphasis.
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in implementation research.
  • Clinical training and experience in measurement-based care (i.e. use of routine measurement of target symptoms or problems to inform care decisions).
  • Experience working in the context of academic-community partnership.
  • Experience and skill in giving professional presentations.
  • Strong publication record commensurate for stage of training.
  • Experience serving as project lead or coordinator on federally funded project.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Other highly desirable skills include:

  • Experience in supervising, consulting, or training clinicians in evidence-based methods.
  • Experience with qualitative (e.g., interviews, field notes, and focus groups) data collection and analysis.
  • Strong computer, statistical (e.g., multilevel and/or structural equation modeling), and technical skills.

Project Coordinator Position Available at Indiana University Training Research and Implementation in Psychology (TRIP) Lab

 

Position: Full-Time Psychology Project Coordinator

 

DUTIES:

The project coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of a federally funded grant to evaluate standardized and tailored approaches to implementation of measurement based care across multiple sites of a large community behavioral health organization. Duties include preparing study materials; composing and documenting Institutional Review Board paperwork; submission of documents to the National Institute of Mental Health; tracking and monitoring data collection; serving as a liaison between the research team and community behavioral health administrators, clinicians, and staff; enrolling study participants; conducting phone assessments with participants; scheduling and moderating focus groups; oversight of undergraduate research assistants; regular meetings with study Principal Investigator (Dr. Cara Lewis), postdoctoral fellow, and graduate student investigators.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualification for this position is a BA or BS degree, Psychology degree preferred for this position. Candidates must be able to work independently, deal effectively with professional staff/associates, and be detail-oriented. Candidates are required to be computer literate and have working knowledge of Microsoft word processing and spreadsheet packages. Knowledge of SPSS or another (e.g., SAS, R, Mplus) statistical software is preferred. The initial appointment will be for 1 year, but a multi-year appointment is possible, and desirable, with renewals.
