Preconference Workshop A: Accelerate Your Academic Writing Success in D&I Science: From Fledgling Idea to Publication

Join this workshop to build your strategic D&I writing agenda for the next 1-2 years, optimize your writing structure and style for leading D&I journals, and learn how to effectively write with others on large research teams, community partners, and interdisciplinary groups. We will share concrete ways to align purpose, content, and writing style. The workshop will close with a 30-minute writing block to edit a draft abstract, manuscript section, or strategic writing plan.

Presenters include experts from the UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute’s Dissemination and Implementation Science Center and Editors from Implementation Research and Practice and Implementation Science (Kaiser, B., McGuier, E., Schoenwald, S., Viglione, C., Stadnick, N., Rabin, B., Brookman-Frazee, L., and Aarons, G.).

Preconference Workshop B: Advancing Implementation Science in HIV and Global Contexts

This workshop will focus on emerging directions in implementation science in HIV, infectious diseases, and global contexts. Participants will be engaged in 1) a “Strategies Café,” which will offer insight into innovative implementation strategies deployed and tested in global settings; 2) a session on methodological challenges in global contexts; and 3) a session on how implementation science can be leveraged for infectious disease elimination. Practical approaches to promote equitable implementation in global contexts will be emphasized throughout.

This workshop will be led by Elvin Geng and presentations will feature an international group of scholars associated with the ViiV Healthcare and NIH-funded HIV, Infectious Disease and Global Health Implementation Research Institute (HIGH IRI).

Preconference Workshop C: Developing Comprehensive Infrastructure to Support Evidence-Based Practice Implementation and Sustainability: Preparing Guidance for Providers, Intermediaries, Policymakers, and Funders

The Practitioner Network of Expertise (PNoE) Implementation Infrastructure Initiative (I3), is addressing the lack of infrastructure for implementation of prevention and treatment interventions. The I3 aims to develop a series of guidance documents and resources to develop implementation infrastructure across provider, intermediary, and policy/funder levels. Preconference workshop participants will refine concepts to inform I3 guidance documents via a highly-interactive facilitation process using Delphi surveys results. Join us to build social connections and momentum for the next phase of the initiative, with the opportunity to join future Iactivities.

Presenters include experts from US DHHS, University of Washington, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Washington State University, Columbia University, Public Health Seattle & King County, and Annie E. Casey Foundation (Blitz, C., Comtois, K., Aldridge, W., Cooper, B., Bumbarger, B., Patel, S., Bustos, T., Monroe-DeVita, M., Darnell, D., and Weaver, C.).

Preconference Workshop D: Using Causal Pathway Diagramming to Understand Implementation Mechanisms

Do you want to bring more precision into understanding how and why implementation strategies work? Learn how to use causal pathway diagrams to select, operationalize, optimize, and prioritize implementation strategies. Participants will practice creating causal pathway diagrams and will get access to expert consultation in applying causal pathway diagrams in their own work following the conference. There will be a follow-up office hour and a 1:1 or group mentoring session to support knowledge application. This workshop is supported by the NIMH-funded IMPACT Center.

Presenters include experts at Kaiser Permanente, University of Washington, and Washington University in St. Louis (Meza, R., Klasnja, P., Weiner, B., Pullmann, M., Powell, B., and Lewis, C.).
