KPWHRI is an internationally recognized academic research organization that conducts non-proprietary research to improve health and health care. Programmatic research areas include aging/dementia, cancer prevention, health services research, health informatics and digital health, immunizations, mental health, pharmacoepidemiology, substance abuse and nicotine dependence, and implementation science. Major research funders include NIH, PCORI, FDA, CDC, and AHRQ.  KPWHRI is affiliated with Kaiser Permanente Washington, a large not-for-profit health care delivery system in Washington state. This positioning allows access to an ideal natural, population-based laboratory to study important health issues through clinical trials, observational studies, and qualitative research.  Investigators have access to electronic medical records, pharmacy records, and other health plan data for health plan members.  KPWHRI is part of a vibrant medical research community in Seattle, including the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in an applicable health-related field, excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, and either a track record of extramural research funding or high potential for independent research funding. Appointment is open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Senior Investigator), but Assistant Investigator candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
