Director of Implementation

The Child Health and Development Institute (CHDI) is seeking a talented, innovative, and experienced Director of Implementation to lead and expand statewide initiatives to implement evidence-based practices (EBPs) for children with behavioral health concerns. The Director of Implementation will provide substantive leadership for CHDI’s EBP and other program implementation initiatives, including serving as Project Director for one or more initiatives. The individual selected for this position will provide project oversight, including project/contract management, hiring/staffing, budgeting, and reporting. The Director of Implementation will contribute to the development of written products in varying formats and for diverse audiences (e.g., peer reviewed journal publications, policy and issue briefs, IMPACT reports for policymakers). The individual selected for this position will also identify and pursue new opportunities and funding, consistent with CHDI’s mission, that will have a direct impact on children and families in Connecticut. The Director of Implementation will report directly to the Vice President for Mental Health Initiatives.

CHDI is an intermediary organization that works to improve the quality of health, behavioral health, and early childhood systems and services for Connecticut’s children and families. CHDI is the Coordinating Center for multiple state- and federally funded implementation, training, and quality improvement initiatives in Connecticut, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems (MATCH-ADTC), Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS), and Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC). These initiatives have resulted in significant improvements to the service delivery system. More than 40 community-based providers have been trained to implement EBPs, more than 1,000 clinicians have been trained, over 11,000 children have been served, and CHDI has collected data to demonstrate excellent treatment outcomes for children and families. CHDI’s work also includes a focus on trauma-informed care, and CHDI is a member of SAMHSA’s National Child Traumatic Stress Network.

Requirements

Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
• Possess a Ph.D. in psychology, social work, child development, or closely related field
• Experience with dissemination/implementation of EBPs and/or implementation science
• Experience with children’s behavioral health systems and/or program implementation
• Experience with project management, including budgeting and reporting to funders
• Demonstrated experience successfully obtaining competitive grant funding
• Experience with research, program evaluation, statistical analysis, data management/reporting, or quality improvement, including experience with SPSS and Excel
• Must be extremely organized, efficient, able to multi-task, prioritize, able to meet deadlines, and a strong team player
• Must possess excellent writing ability, including evidence of first author peer-reviewed publications
• Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and cultural competence skills, must be comfortable collaborating with a range of professionals, and have experience with public speaking

Candidates who possess some or all of the following are preferred:
• At least two years of experience with children’s behavioral health systems and program implementation
• Experience with hiring and supervising professional staff
• Experience managing, analyzing, and reporting with large data sets or with advanced statistical methods
• Experience providing TF-CBT, MATCH-ADTC, CBITS, and/or ARC (or other EBPs)
• Knowledge of the child welfare, juvenile justice, education, law enforcement, and/or mental health systems in Connecticut
• Experience participating on local, state, or national committees/workgroups about children’s behavioral health or related issues • Experience working at a state or national level with funding partners and policy makers

Responsibilities will likely include:
• Project management for EBP dissemination and related initiatives, including oversight of project budgets, hiring, staffing and staff supervision, contracts, deliverables, reports, and relationships with funders and other partners
• Applying implementation science and research to CHDI’s EBP and other initiatives, including improving and aligning existing implementation consultation and technical assistance process and procedures
• Contributing to and leading development of written products, including CHDI reports and academic publications
• Identifying and pursuing new initiatives and associated funding via state, federal, and philanthropic grant opportunities
• Providing training, consultation, and systems development, including participation on state committees, workgroups, and other public forums related to CHDI’s interests and work
• Contributing to data reporting and statistical analysis for quality improvement/evaluation

Compensation
